Personal Details

Bio

For over 20 years, I have specialized in advancing field robotics and developing commercial navigation systems that enable large machines to operate autonomously in complex, unstructured environments. My work led to the creation of Zebedee, the world’s first handheld mobile 3D mapping system. I later became Research Director of CSIRO’s Autonomous Systems Program, overseeing projects in field robotics, sensor networks, and cognitive systems, and managing the emerging market portfolios of Spatial AI and the Industrial Internet. Today, I am an independent research consultant with a deep passion for robotics, innovation, and advanced manufacturing in Australia.

After retiring from CSIRO in 2019, I have been able to dump all the ideas that I have held back for 30 years (hence the plethora of Linkedin Articles) and Government Submissions. I have developed a passion for Innovation Provenance and Investment Governance (hence the moniker User:Flamekeeper. I believe that I am becoming human, and not dancer.
